Rotary Clubs throughout the world have centuries of combined experience with fighting pandemics. We have tapped into this experience to continue keeping our communities and environment safe. Our local club members have been actively volunteering with the health authorities to help and encourage persons to be vaccinated.

The Rotary Club of Grenada holds the fervent view that our best option to combat the covid crisis whilst protecting others and ourselves is to become vaccinated. Slowing down the spread of Covid-19 will allow businesses, schools and other services to reopen. We believe any further delay in fully reopening our economy will have a deleterious effect on already struggling livelihoods throughout Grenada.

The Rotary Clubs have embraced their responsibility to help protect lives and reduce hardships in communities. Throughout the pandemic, we have donated hundreds of relief packages to vulnerable persons. We are concerned that the low rate of vaccination will create further economic and health hardships, which may result, is additional loss of jobs and lives. A partially shut economy is untenable at best.

We have a responsibility to encourage all eligible persons to get vaccinated without delay. The covid-19 vaccine provides an additional layer of protection to help us fight this dreadful virus.

Here are some FACTS about approved covid-19 vaccines:
  1. All approved vaccines have proven to be safe and effective in preventing severe illness from Covid-19
  2. Getting vaccinated provides even stronger protection for persons who already contracted the virus
  3. You may have some minor, usual side-effects after taking the vaccine. This is normal for ANY vaccine
  4. To fully build your immunity –two doses of the vaccines are needed (follow exceptions where directed by local health officials)

Addressing Misinformation
The Rotary Club of Grenada notes with immense concern the vast amount of misinformation circulating about the covid-19 virus and the vaccines. We support the position that anyone who generates or spreads misinformation undermines the work of health authorities and erodes the public trust. The public should continue to use official, trust-worthy sources for information about the virus.

We urge all Grenadians to do their part in keeping our community safe. If you have any questions on covid vaccines or need information on clinic locations, please visit the official Ministry of Health website (https://gov.gd/moh/health-ministry).
