The Rotary Clubs Of Grenada through a United Nations Development Programme grant have distributed hundreds of hampers to struggling Grenadian families who have suffered immense hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Members of the Rotary Clubs of Grenada (Rotary Club of Grenada and Rotary Club of Grenada East) together with the Rotaract Clubs and other volunteers visited some of the poorest families in Grenada yesterday distributing much needed food supplies. The hampers contained basic necessities and food supplies to help vulnerable families get through what has been a tough year for many.
President of the Rotary Club of Grenada, Henry Joseph said, "2020 has been a difficult year for many. Our commitment to service above self and membership to Rotary mandates that we support less fortunate families. We know the hardships many persons have endured. As we enter into the holiday season, we're aware some families will face tables with no food items. As Rotarians, we have a duty to respond, show care and be the light in those moments of despair. I'm proud of the work both clubs have done and immensely grateful for the grant from the UNDP."
On Saturday, Nov 07, truck loads of hampers were seen throughout many communities in Grenada delivering food items to families in need. All participants echoed sentiments of hope that such acts of generosity during an active pandemic will usher a kinder and more humane society.
