President Julia welcoming guestsThe Rotary Clubs of Grenada hosted one leg of District 7000 2012 conference on Wednesday 25 April 2012. One hundred and thirty-two Rotarians and friends from twenty-two clubs of District 7000 (Puerto Rico), Brazil, Argentina and Mexico were welcomed at the port by a welcome party of Rotarians headed by Assistant Governor District 7030, Roy O'Neale and President Julia G. Lawrence of the Rotary Club of Grenada.

The visitors were then taken on a guided tour of our picturesque St. George's with stops at the historic and breathtaking Fort Frederick and the heady Laura Spice Plantation.

The party then headed to the Quarantine Point, a beautiful park that is maintained by the Rotary Club of Grenada, where a tree was planted by District Governor Paul of District 7000 to mark this historic occasion. At that ceremony our PDG Sir John Watts, the first District Governor of District 7030 accepted a banner of District 7000, on behalf of the Rotary Clubs of Grenada from DG Paul.

This visitors then moved to the Flamboyant Hotel for fellowship with the members of the Rotary Clubs of Grenada. There they were addressed by AG Roy, DG Paul, RI President Representative Henrique and President Julia. Banners were exchanged. The highlight of that session was the presentation of supplies to the Grenada Diabetes Association.

The hope of president Julia that the spark which has been lit that day will be fanned to fuel a dynamic relationship between our districts, promoting understanding and fellowship, facilitating international home visits, strengthening friendships, and most importantly promoting service that transcends club, district, and national borders, was echoed by all.

A truly remarkable day of Rotary family, fellowship and community spirit.
