Mr. Alphonsus Daniel in his capacity as President of the RCG stated that he was honored for the Club to participate in this momentous occasion. "We are absolutely thrilled to participate in this special event to mark Her Majesty's 70th year of reign as Head of the Commonwealth", he said. Beacons were lit in all 54 Commonwealth states with the main ceremony taking place at Buckingham Palace in London. The RCG collaborated with Rotarians from the Rotary Club of London to execute this momentous occasion. The lighting of beacons is widely recognised as a celebratory tradition in the United Kingdom for significant events. A Platinum Jubilee is of course a major milestone and the first ever celebrated by the British monarchy.
